A MUM from Wrexham is offering a potentially life saving service to other parents.

Beckie Hulmes, offers first aid classes for adults and children with her business, Mini First Aid. Beckie is using her to skills to teach parents and children how to deal with emergency first aid situations

Recently, Beckie received feedback from a mum who had been on a two hour class. Her daughter had been knocked unconscious whilst out, when walking the family’s dog and as she had attended a class she had the skills and confidence to know how to deal with the situation. She could not be more grateful that she attended a class. Luckily her daughter was ok following the incident.

Beckie is no stranger to first aid as a qualified nurse with over 10 years’ experience, and with two little boys at home.

When Beckie found out about Mini First Aid, it felt like the perfect opportunity to use her skills to build a worthwhile business to fit around family life.

Beckie said: “I first found out about Mini First Aid through the online friendship and support network, ‘Mummy Social’.

"Speaking to the team it just felt right. Working as a nurse, I see first-hand the benefits of parents knowing first aid. It’s so important for example that everyone knows how to administer CPR correctly as it really can make the difference in saving a life. It is very rewarding seeing parents going away from a class with the confidence and skills to deal with an emergency situation”

Beckie doesn’t stop there. She has fantastic ideas for teaching first aid to pre-school and school children through the Mini First Aid Early Years and Kids classes. Beckie is a great believer that all children should be taught first aid from an early age.
