A FLINTSHIRE based film production company has filmed parts of the remarkable journey of a teenager who is kayaking around the whole of Wales.

Finn Burnham, 18, from Betws-y-Coed, is undertaking the epic 400 nautical mile journey in the memory of friend Callum Wylie, who aged just 18 tragically took his own life in February of this year.

Callum had Aspergers syndrome, and since his death his mum Charly has set up a foundation to provide more support for people with Aspergers.

Finn is taking on the challenge to raise money for the Callum Wylie foundation, and a Hawarden-based film production company has filmed some of the journey.

Follow Films, set up by Hollie Harmsworth and Graham Cooper in 2011 after they graduated from university, have used a number of drone, ground and underwater shots to tell Finn's tale.

Finn Burnham said: ''The Callum Wylie foundation was set up by Callum's mother after his death, the aim for the organisation is to support and reach more young people with Aspergers.

"Callum was an amazing adventure athlete, he excelled in mountain biking and skiing, he also had an amazing talent to play any song he heard on any instrument without sheet music. Callum has always been a friend of mine, from early on we went on numerous expeditions, as we got older this didn't really change except our expeditions got bigger and more dangerous.

''I thought I knew him better than anyone and always saw through his poker face, but towards the end he kept everything hidden. I never saw it coming.

''After Callum's death his closest friends and family came together to support each other, this is when the Callum Wylie foundation was formed. As a result of this we have all been undertaking various adventure sports challenges, his mother is doing amazing cold water swims and races, his friends have been running and I will be kayaking.

''I have decided to kayak around Wales because kayaking scares me and for me to truly live up to Callum's legacy I should face that fear head on as he would, therefore I will be kayaking non stop around Wales the full circumference of over 400 nautical miles.''

Hollie Harmsworth said: ''Finn is a friend of mine so to hopefully be able to raise the profile of his journey is great and the very least he deserves.''

Finn is currently at the Bristol Channel after starting his journey in Llandudno. The film itself can be viewed by following Follow Films on Vimeo.
