FIREFIGHTERS continue to tackle hotspots at the site of the massive mountainside blaze that started almost six weeks ago.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service had spent weeks battling a huge wildfire in Llangollen, which started in Llantysilio on July 19 but has now been reduced to hotspots.

A spokesperson for the fire and rescue service said that as part of their ongoing monitoring activities, one crew remains at the scene this morning as there are still some hotspots appearing.

Firefighters are using beaters and water backs to put out the hotspots as they arise, the spokesperson added.
