TWO men are in custody after reportedly damaging a police car and spitting in an officer's face.

PC Thomas Hough of North Wales Police said this afternoon (Sunday, August 27) that two males took a vehicle without the owner's consent in the Wrexham area and went on to steal petrol from a Sainsbury's store.

They then made their way towards Denbighshire where they crashed and later ended up in Flint.

PC Hough said the men were then stopped by North Wales Police north Flintshire team but they decided to fight the officers and cause criminal damage to a police vehicle.

The pair even spat in the face of an officer from the Alliance Armed Policing Unit, PC Hough said.

He added: "Both arrested for the offences and all the driving offences. Both officers are ok and currently writing their statements."

He added a 'massive thanks' to all officers involved in the team effort.
