ORGANISERS of a well-known banger race are aiming to beat their fundraising target for local charities.
Bettws Banger Racing has raised more than £110,000 for charities such as Wales Air Ambulance and other worthwhile causes.
The racing extravaganza, which celebrates its ninth year this weekend, aims to raise £30,000 which will bring the total raised to £140,000.
In the UK, banger racing is a popular motorsport event which sees vehicles race on tarmac or dirt tracks.
The event at Bettws Cedewain sees around 100 cars racing in a series of events, including the Ladies Race and the famous 'Caravan Carnage' class.
This year, Control Techniques has pledged its support to the annual Bettws Banger Racing event.
Barbara Jessop, from Control Techniques, said: “Not only is the Bettws Banger event great fun for everyone, it also supports a number of valuable local charities including the Air Ambulance.
"We are happy to support the event and hope all the drivers return home in one piece!”
The banger racing takes place this Sunday, August 26, at Bettws Cedewain (SY16 3BL) with the first race starting from 12pm.
