A HAIRDRESSER was thrilled give a local charity a huge cut of her profit.

Jennifer Bennett, of Flint, decided to donate all the money she made from hair appointments on Sunday to Jenson's Fund, a cause which is going from strength to strength with community support.

Dozens of eager customers turned up to Hair By Jennifer, a salon in Flint, to show their support to Jenson Edwards, aged five, of Buckley, who was diagnosed with a rare muscle-wasting condition when he was three-years-old.

This charity day was fully equipped with cakes made by Jennifer herself, wine, and plenty of smiles, and the total from one day alone was a hair-raising £700.

Jenson's Fund was set up by parents Hannah Grindley and Craig Edwards of Buckley, who were devastated to find their son had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. They're aware this condition means he won't be able to walk as an adult, and will pose a lot of health risks in future, including a short life expectancy.

Jennifer said: "It's for a good cause, little Jenson, who could melt a thousand hearts with his smile alone. I decided I wanted to help in any way I could so I organised a 'Cool Cutz for Jenson' event where all the money made goes to the sweetest little boy ever. Hairdressing is what I do best - that and bake cakes.

"The atmosphere was absolutely fantastic, we didn't want the day to end. Whether people were in for tea, coffee, cake, wine, or a haircut, there was no set price, just a donation in the bucket.

"Honestly, I can't put into words how doing these events makes me feel - humbled doesn't quite cut it."

Jennifer was helped by her hair-dressing friends Paul Beech, Liam Grant (Liam The Barber) and Barber Connecxion.

Dad Craig said: "We promise to use the money wisely and make sure every penny gets spent on making Jenson's life that extra bit happier and special. I'm just speechless, honestly thank you everyone who took part. You're all incredibly kind and awesome individuals and should be very proud."
