A SCHEME to keep pub customers safe could be coming to Flintshire.

Sgt Neil Hughes, of North Wales Police South Flintshire safer neighbourhood team, was a pub licensee for ten years before joining the force.

The former licensee of the The Old Vaults in Bangor told the Leader he hopes to set up a Pubwatch scheme for Mold in the near future in order to make pubs safer and help keep track of trouble makers.

He explained: "Mold Pubwatch needs to be reinvigorated.

"There is a new scheme which is mainly online where licensees sign up and they can use an app to see photos of people who have been banned and they can request a ban through it.

"It is working very well in Saltney so I am hoping we can get Mold and Buckley Pubwatch schemes joined together with this new electronic scheme.

"It is going to make these premises safer but we need to get funding for it and we need to get licensees signed up to it.

"I am hoping we can have that done by the end of the summer."
