CONCERNS have been made about "eyesore" bins on a street.

Wem resident David Waghorn raised the issue of wheelie bins on Crown Street at the latest town council meeting.

Mr Waghorn said that the bins were "permanently out on the street", branding them an "eyesore" that caused obstructions on the highways, particularly to pedestrians.

The council agreed to raise the matter with Shropshire Council to see what could be done.

Cllr Chris Mellings, also a county councillor, said the the authority would mention it to highways department to see if they could have a conversation with the landlords to improve things and to ensure that bins are not kept on the street.

He added: "But you're right. I think they're a hazard as well as being unsightly."
