A CAT had to be put down after it was shot with an airgun.

At around midday on Tuesday, July 24 a resident of the Glebelands, Shawbury, found a neighbour's cat lying injured by his van.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "The cat was taken to a vet who found an airgun pellet lodged in its spine. The animal had to be put down."

POLICE have also appealed for information on a break-in at farm outbuildings between Aston and Lee Brockburst.

No items were reported stolen during the incident, which happened on July 17 (0081s 180718).

During the same night, possibly around 11.45pm farm premises in Lee Brockhurst were broken into and power tools were stolen.

Also that night, at 11.15pm, four people with back packs were seen around machinery in a farm yard at Wytheford, Shawbury. They ran of into the darkness when challenged (0935s 180718).
