RESIDENTS have been warned not to fall for a recent telephone scam.
A spokesman for Flintshire Trading Standards is encouraging people to be vigilant after a report of fraudsters contacting a resident about their window guarantee.
"The company advised the resident that the guarantee for the windows in their property was coming to an end and that they wished to arrange a visit to the property to check them and to sign them off," the trading standards spokesman explained.
"The resident became suspicious and advised the caller that they would prefer to contact the installer of the windows to check with them.
"If you receive a call like this or similar, you may wish to terminate the call and then contact the company who installed your windows to see if any kind of guarantee extension is available.
"If you do wish to extend your guarantee, if such a service is available our advice is to do your research and shop around first. Be wary of responding to any cold callers."
