Montgomeryshire is the Royal Welsh Show’s feature county for first time in more than 10 years.
Since Llanelwedd became the permanent home of Wales’ largest agricultural show more than 50 years ago, the 13 old counties take it in turn to be the feature county.
This time it’s Montgomeryshire’s turn.
Renowned and highly respected farmer, Mr Tom Tudor MBE FRAgS of Llanerfyl, is the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society’s President for 2018.
Having lived and farmed in Montgomeryshire all his life, together with wife, Ann and son, Richard, Tom is a pillar of the local community.
Montgomeryshire is the feature county at this year's Royal Welsh Show.
Llysun, a beef and sheep farm, relies totally on grassland farming, and Tom has worked hard to earn the reputation of having an excellent grassland management system in the upland areas.
Mr Tudor says: “The show creates in me an overwhelming feeling of proudness.
“I wish to thank the people of Montgomeryshire for their support and their efforts in raising funds, promoting our county and the Royal Welsh Show.
“Ours is a rural county, situated in the heart of Wales, and the warmth of the people and its gentle rolling hills is epitomised in Welsh by the saying ‘Mwynder Maldwyn’.

“The Royal Welsh Show is the highlight of the farming calendar and is an incredible shop window to showcase to the rest of the world what Wales and its farmers have to offer."
The Lady Ambassador for Montgomeryshire is Trefeglwys’ Cathrin Roberts who says it’s a role that she has “always dreamt of”.
“The Young Farmers movement has been a large part of my life. I have been an active member of Trefeglwys YFC, competing for club, county and national in various competitions. I am now club leader and county treasurer.
“As Lady Ambassador Elect, I had the opportunity to meet so many hard working and inspiring people. It has made me realise how much hard work, dedication and commitment goes on behind the scenes at all of the events."
For the past 18 months, a substantial amount of money has been raised through a variety of fundraising events to promote Montgomeryshire.
The money will be invested into a new building for young members on the showground.
Anwen Orrells, Chair of the Montgomeryshire Advisory Committee, said: “They are the future of the show and they deserve decent facilities.
“We’ve had so many fundraising events such as Strictly Come Dancing, a mock wedding, Party in the Park with Max Boyce, and a charity auction. You name it, we’ve done it!
“The people of Montgomeryshire have done us proud,” she added.
The Royal Welsh Show runs from July 23 to 26.
