An internationally-renowned clay target shooting facility based in Trefeglwys will host a major four-day clay shooting event.
Mid Wales Shooting Centre is the venue for the upcoming Down the Line (DTL) Home International, British Open and European Championships.
The event is one of the largest of its kind in the UK, and attracts the best international shooters from as far as South Africa, Norway, Sweden and France.
More than 500 shooters are expected to take part on each competition day from Thursday, July 19, to Sunday, July 22.

Local talent includes the 2003 World-Champion rally co-driver Phil Mills from Trefeglwys, who will represent Wales alongside his son, Iwan, in the Home International competition, and as individual competitors in the British Open and European Championships.
Current European Champion, England’s Austin Coxhead, will return to Trefeglwys to try to retain his title.
The four-day event follows another major shooting competition at Mid Wales Shooting Centre, the DTL Krieghoff Classic, which this year celebrated its 20th anniversary, and has only ever been held at the centre.

The facility hosts five major events every year which, according to Mid Wales Shooting Centre, brings in excess of £2.5 million to the local economy.
After heavily investing and upgrading its facilities, the centre has opened a ‘Pro Store’ which is the first shooting and countrywear retail outlet of its kind in the UK.
Local produce such as Hilltop Honey, Caersws-based Radnor Preserves and Coco Pzazz, and Llanidloes’ Curig Welsh Crafts will also go on sale at the new store, which Mid Wales Shooting Centre hope will “boost good quality produce” in the area.

A Mid Wales Shooting Centre spokesman said: “It’s a highly prestigious to host the Home Internationals and European Championships. It’s a huge compliment to host a major event and it shows how well we can do it with our good facilities and warm welcome to the area.”
Entry is free for the four-day event.
