CLWYD South's voice in Westminster has hailed the work of volunteers.
Susan Elan Jones MP has chaired a seminar on international volunteering in parliament today (Tuesday, July 17)
Ms Jones, who co-chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group for Charities and Volunteering, said:
"International agency VSO is 60 years old and has an excellent reputation world-wide, with skilled people supporting different communities around the world.
"The organisation has commissioned an excellent piece of research 'Impact beyond volunteering' that evaluates the complex and long-term pathways of volunteer impact.
"I was very pleased to chair this seminar in Parliament that enabled a serious discussion of issues contained in this research. Whether locally in our own communities or internationally, volunteers are massively important to all that we do and I was delighted to be able to support an organisation that does so much to promote volunteering."
Topics discussed at the meeting included good practices in volunteering; the importance of sharing ideas between organisations that have volunteers; and the impact of volunteering on local communities in different parts of the world.
