FIVE deliberate fires were tackled in less than an hour in Caia Park.
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service received three calls between about 2.50pm and 3.30pm today reporting the five grass blazes.
Three were in separate places along the riverbank near the Queensway Sports and Social Club, one was in Montgomery Road and another in Benjamin Road.
A fire crew from Wrexham attended each scene and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames - except in the case of Benjamin Road, which had already been put out by a member of the public.
In each case the damage was confined to the grass and the cause was confirmed to be deliberate.
A spokesman for the fire and rescue service told the Leader that the five blazes involved a collective area of more than 350 square metres of grass.
