A GROUP of long distance walkers on a trip to celebrate the NHS have paid a visit to Oswestry.

The group, headed by Rev David Wall of St David's Church in Pontypridd, walked from north to south Wales to mark the 70th anniversary of the National Health Service - visiting as many facilities as possible on the way.

The God Bless the NHS walk included stops over the border at Oswestry Health Centre, the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Gobowen and Severn Hospice.

The walk - one of several events organised by St David's Church to mark the anniversary - is due to end in Pontypridd today (Saturday, July 14).
