THERE was plenty of fun to be had as the crowds gathered for an annual carnival

This year's West Felton Carnival attracted a strong turn out for the parade and various attractions on the carnival field.

Eileen Hanmer, of the carnival's organising committee, said that the event was a big success.

A colourful parade featuring floats, musicians, vintage cars and dancers journeyed from the Punch Bowl to the carnival, which organisers say is the biggest village event of its type for miles.

Mike Perry was the MC for the afternoon and the judges this year were Shropshire councillor Steve Charmley with his wife Natalie, along with the Rev Sarah and Richard Burton from Whittington.

This year's Carnival King and Queen were Ben Mansell and Ruby Simpson.

There was entertainment all afternoon on the playing field from the Border Counties School Of Gymnastics, Kick ’n' Alice the Appalachian Dancers, Andrew Healey with his magic show, a fire eater and drummer Ben Jones.

The Porthywaen Junior Band and the Boreatton Scout Drummers also performed.

There were also plenty of stalls, a fun fair, willow weaving and a birds of prey display.

Proceeds from the event will go towards various community projects.
