PREPARATIONS are gathering pace for an annual village carnival.

Crowds are set to gather for this year's West Felton Carnival will be held on Sunday, July 8.

The parade of floats and bands, vintage cars and dancers start to from the Punch Bowl at 1 30pm.

Mike Perry will be MC for the afternoon and the judges this year are Shropshire councillor Steve Charmley with his wife Natalie along with Rev Sarah and Richard Burton from Whittington.

This year's Carnival King and Queen are Ben Mansell & Ruby Simpson.

There will be non-stop entertainment all afternoon on the playing field from the Border Counties School of Gymnastics, West Felton School, Kick’n Alice, the Appalachian Dancers, magician Andrew Healey, a fire eater, drummer Ben Jones, the Porthywaen Junior Band and the Boreatton Scout Drummers.

There will also be a selection of stalls and a funfair.

Carnival gors will also be able to try their hand at willow weaving and a birds of prey will be displayed.

Admission is £2 and free for children and pensioners.
