A former Marches PE teacher has 'chased her dreams' and climbed Snowdon with Great British Olympian Daley Thompson.

Anne Cielecki took part in the climb which was inspired by Team GB and sponsored by the official Olympics sponsor Bridgestone.

The climb, called 'Chase Your Dreams with Daley Thompson', saw 60 over 60-year-olds climb Snowdon with the Olympian.

Anne, who was nominated by her daughter Laura Bradshaw to take on the challenge, said it was "awesome".

"It was absolutely incredible," said 67-year-old Anne, who lives in Llanrhaeadr.

"Team GB do a challenge every year and this was to celebrate Daley's 60th birthday.

"When I found out I was nominated I was thinking "can I, can't I" as I've had a few medical issues. But I have no regrets, everyone was really lovely and very supportive."

The former PE and dance teacher, who spent 20 years teaching, was forced to retire 10 years ago after she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.

Since her retirement, Anne has undergone shoulder, knee and a hip replacement, describing herself as being "rebuilt".

"As good as I've felt since I've been rebuilt, I know that it was all major work and I was wary of whether the climb would be difficult," she said.

"But I was fine. There was plenty support on the way up and everyone was very willing to help.

"My daughter was very worried, phoning me all the way up the mountain – it was like role reversal! But she's very proud of me.

"It was a very humbling experience. I think the oldest person there was 81, but it was such a team effort and it was lovely to meet everyone else taking on the challenge.

"I've always been a keen walker, but I had never been up Snowdon before.

"I love being out walking and it's been amazing to be able to conquer the mountain.

"I've even written to the Orthopaedic Hospital to thank them for all the amazing work."

Bridgestone are producing a documentary on this year's Chase your Dream campaign, which will be shown on its website at the end of July.
