Oswestry will be transformed this weekend when traditional Bulgarian dancers and musicians perform at two open air events.
On Saturday June 16, the Oswestry-based Bulgarian Folklore Club will give a folk dance demonstration on the Bailey Head at around 2pm accompanied by the talented traditional accordionist, Zhivko Videv.
The display will provide a taster to a whole afternoon of Bulgarian dance, music and food in Cae Glas Park on Sunday June 17 from midday until 7pm.
Called ‘Together in the Park’, the colourful celebration draws some of the biggest crowds as a popular fixture of Oswestry Town Council’s summer programme of free music-in-the-park events.
With Mr Videv on accordion, and his wife Margarita Mihaylova leading the dancers in traditional costume, visitors will have the chance to join in the dancing as well as sample authentic Bulgarian food (available at a small cost). Pipe player, Todor Apostolov, will also be playing throughout the afternoon.
