FIREFIGHTERS came to the rescue of a dog trapped on an embankment.
A crew from Oswestry Fire Station attended at Pontfaen, Chirk at 1.35pm (Thursday, June 7) where a three year old female Jack Russell named Tiny was trapped around 15-20ft down a near vertical embankment.
Judith Acun, 46, of Chirk Bank, had taken Tiny for a walk while looking after the dog for her mother Ann Jones, who was in hospital.
Mrs Acun told how the Jack Russell ran after her Springer Labrador cross down the embankment, but was unable to get back up.
Judith and a friend tried in vain to reach Tiny, and had to call the emergency services.
The Oswestry crew requested assistance from Shrewsbury as a safety team.
Firefighters used line rescue equipment to bring Tiny back up the embankment to safety.
The rescue was complete by 3.35pm.
Judith said she was really grateful to the fire crews for their efforts.
She said: "They were wonderful. They were just really nice people and were very good at keeping the dog calm - really professional and did a really good job."
