AN EVENT gave visitors a chance to enjoy a glimpse at a historic landmark's wildlife.
Chirk Castle first Meet the Bees event proved popular with visitors, who were welcomed by beekeeper John Beavan.
John Hignett, visitor experience manager at Chirk Castle, said: "Visitors booked for the event, then small groups got dressed up into bee suits and after a briefing went to a specially prepared hives and opened it up to meet the bees.
"They were able to see the queen, and learn all about how a beehive works."
Chirk Castle recently became the first National Trust property in Wales to have been accredited as bee-friendly under a new Welsh Government scheme.
Mr Beavan will also be at Chirk on Saturday, August 18 for a drop-in session for his observation beehive, and in September to do a honey extraction event.
