There were some proud owners and wagging tails at The Boathouse at Chirk Marina as a Bank Holiday Dog Show took place.

Beastly Thoughts Professional Dog Services hosted their first dog show on Bank Holiday Monday, and it was certainly a hit with the four-legged contenders.

The dogs competed in classes such as cutest gal, coolest guy, best veteran and for the coveted title of fastest sausage eater.

The dog show was raising money for the North East Wales Search and Rescue, a volunteer search and rescue (Mountain Rescue) organisation operating in north east and mid Wales.

Karen Boyce, the organiser of the dog show, said the event was a great success.

"It went really well – I haven't counted how many dogs there were, but there were rather a lot of them!" she said.

"We raised £300 at the show which is great.

"A big thank you to The Boathouse Chirk for making a super dog show and thanks also to Kronospan for sponsoring our winners rosettes."
