Staff from a family-owned Shropshire firm are sitting pretty after creating a seat with a difference.

The team from TG Enviro – part of the Tudor Griffiths Group in Ellesmere – have converted an eight-yard skip into a unique seating area that is now on tour around trade and agricultural shows up and down the country.

Kevin Gardiner, TG Enviro divisional manager, said the new seat had created a great deal of interest, and had already made its debut at several local events.

“The design for the seat came from our waste manager John Pugh – we had discussed how it would be a great way to promote our skip hire services, and so we came up with a plan of how to convert the skip and we’re delighted with the result,” said Kevin.

The skip seat will now be used at events to promote not just TG Enviro’s skip hire capabilities, but other Group services too, and to host visitors to the TG Group promotional stand at various shows. It has also been used at the British Ironwork Centre in Oswestry.

Its creation marks the start of another busy season for the skip hire team after a huge restructuring process as part of the launch of the company’s new-look TG Enviro service.

Mr Gardiner said following the changes, they had seen an unprecedented surge in demand for the company’s services.

“The complete restructure of the TG Enviro side of the business gave us an excellent opportunity to review our services and procedures, and our approach to sustainable and renewable energy.

“The increase in demand for our skip hire services is excellent news and is as a direct result of our rejuvenated approach to this part of the business. Thanks to the rise in bookings, we have also purchased an extra skip hire vehicle in order to meet the demands of our existing and new customers, and the business is continuing to grow.”

TG Skip Hire is one of the region’s largest domestic and commercial skip hire services, and it runs from Tudor Griffiths Group’s Ellesmere and Tattenhall sites. There is a full range of skips for hire – from four cubic yards to 40 cubic yards – with the majority suitable for standard residential driveways, including some with drop doors for easy access.
