The weeks are counting down to this year’s Midnight Ride.

Alan Lewis has championed the event for the last four years and this time round says it will be bigger and better than ever, with a brand new course taking in the Shropshire and Welsh countryside, and he hopes up to 300 cyclists will take part.

The event takes place on Saturday, June 23 and will see fundraisers head off from the Oswestry Memorial Hall at midnight to complete an 85-mile circular route that takes in Welshpool and Lake Vyrnwy.

It concludes with a big breakfast back at the Memorial Hall, plus a hero’s welcome for the weary riders.

Entry is £30 and all proceeds will go to Severn Hospice in Shrewsbury.

This year the event has received the support of several sponsors, including Tweeks Cycles in Wrexham and Certa Hosting, which has helped set up a free website.

Meanwhile, an advertising video for the Midnight Ride has received thousands of hits on the event’s social media pages

It features Alan and two friends prepping for and taking on the challenge, and also includes a number of the event’s sponsors.
