The New Saints have made their first signing of the summer after announcing former Wigan Athletic man Danny Redmond has joined the club.

The 27-year-old Liverpudlian began his career in the Everton Academy, before moving to Wigan Athletic in 2009. Two years later, in January 2011, he made his debut for the Latics, coming on as a substitute in the FA Cup win at Hull City.

Before leaving the club in 2014, he played a number of times, including games against AFC Bournemouth and Manchester City.

He had spells on loan at Hamilton Academicals and Carlisle United but linked up with the Scottish side on a permanent deal in 2014.

Scott Ruscoe believes he is getting a player who wants to be on the ball and has an enthusiastic drive about him.

"I am excited by the signing of Danny Redmond and what he can bring to the football club.” he told the club website.

β€œHe is a player that can play in a number of positions, but the major factors in the decision to sign him were his enthusiasm, determination and what he can do in possession for us. He is an undoubtedly talented player that we look forward to having with us.”
