Lôn y Bugail Trust welcomed a group of American Girl Scouts to Chirk Bunkhouse last weekend.

The group of 23 Girl Scouts, the equivalent to Girl Guides in the UK, from RAF Alconbury Troop 58 Cadettes, part of the USA Girl Scouts Overseas, and the leaders came from all over America.

This was the first time that such a group of Girl Scouts had visited Chirk and the surrounding area.

The girls said they "had a blast".

Saturday saw them rafting on the River Dee with Safe and Sound Outdoors from Llangollen. They also explored Chirk in the afternoon.

On Sunday the group had planned to visit Chirk Cast, but unfortunately they didn't make it as the girls wanted to go back to Llangollen to "get gifts for their moms".

One of their leaders, Meredith, said: "We did have a wonderful time and we wish we could have stayed longer."

As it was Mother's Day in America on the Sunday, some of the girls got up early to prepare a Mother's Day breakfast for their leaders.
