Police in Whittington are conducting 'high visibility' patrols in a bid to combat anti-social issues with youths.

A spokesperson for the Oswestry Rural North Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) said it comes after groups of youths were reported to be causing a nuisance in the village.

They added: "High visibility patrols are being conducted in Whittington to ensure engagement with groups of youths when necessary and youths moved on when required."

It comes after the SNT said youths had been targetting elderly and vulnerable residents, while a group were moved away from Whittington Castle after a series of incident including throwing food at residents.

Mobile CCTV has also been set up in the town.
