THE SPEED and Rally Show enjoyed an amazing first visit to Oswestry Showground.

The event was previously held at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse and motor enthusiasts gathered in sweltering heat to see iconic rally cars live on track, the Nomad, courtesy of Ariel Motor Company, motorbike displays from Supermoto UK and more than 200 cars to view.

Brynmor Pierce, the event director said: “Our first event in 2017 was a great success with the support of many who came along – and 2018 surpassed all expectations.

“Many people commented what a family-friendly and relaxed event it was.

“It was a great day out and we look forward to seeing everyone back here in 2019 where we’ll celebrate the birthday of the Mini, everyone’s favourite small car’.”

A man had to be released from a 4x4 vehicle after an accident at the show.

Jim Lawrence had to be taken to hospital for treatment and was discharged with minor injuries.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue had to unbolt the steering wheel to release him from the vehicle.

The organisers thanked the fully-trained on-site teams and county services.
