Swan Mere Day Centre in Ellesmere has celebrated its fourth birthday.

Not only does it provide a warm and friendly atmosphere for older people to enjoy, but helps others interact and make new friends.

Esme Roberts, director at the day centre, said: “We had a lovely day with entertainment from Just John and a cake to celebrate our fourth birthday.”

There were smiles all round as people got together to have a singsong and enjoy refreshments.

Swan Mere Day Centre is a small and inviting not-for-profit community interest company day centre with a maximum of eight or nine service users a day.

It provides a safe, warm friendly and relaxed atmosphere for older people to enjoy the company of others and make new friends. This stops older people feeling isolated or alone, and the staff are there to offer care and support to individuals.

Morning refreshments are provided as well as a two-course roast lunch and, before going home, tea and homemade cakes.

There is also a range of activities on offer for people to join in as much or as little as they want, including arts and crafts, musical entertainment, mental stimulation games, hand massages, patio gardening and various outings.

The day centre is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am until 4pm at the Town Hall, Ellesmere.
