Householders in Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin are being reminded that their recycling and waste will be collected a day later following May Day bank holiday Monday – for this week only.

As a result of the May Day bank holiday Monday, collections due to be made from Monday May 7 will be made a day later than normal.

For example, collections that would normally be made on Monday 7 will instead be made on Tuesday 8, continuing like this throughout the week with collections that would normally be made on Friday 11 will be made on Saturday May 12.

Collections will return to normal on Monday May 12. Any residents unsure about which day they should put out their recycling or waste are asked to check their collection calendar or check out their bin day on line using the local authority website at www.telford.gov.uk/recycling or www.shropshire.gov.uk/binday

Tim Walters, communications manager at Veolia, said: “We are reminding people that their recycling and waste containers will be collected a day late for the week following the May Day bank holiday. If anyone is unsure when their collection day is, they can also check their collection calendars. The Household Recycling Centres will be open 9am-5pm each day as usual during the bank holiday Monday break.”
