Oswestry Cambrian Rotary is now three years old and is the youngest of the three very successful clubs in Oswestry.

Members celebrated the birthday at there usual meeting venue at the Wynnstay Hotel in Oswestry.

Cambrian was also joined by the District Governor Beryl Cotton and rounded off the evening by presenting the founding President and Assistant Governor Mike Lade with a Paul Harris Fellowship award.

This is the highest award that Rotary International can make to an individual in recognition of service to Rotary and the community.

Paul Harris was the business person that got together with three other business men in Chicago, USA in 1905 with the concept of business putting something back to the community.

They rotated their meetings around their own offices and Rotary was born. Now there are more than 34,000 members in more than 200 countries – who could have foreseen that phenomenal success to make Rotary the oldest and biggest “service” organisation in the world.

Mike said: “This is a proud moment for any Rotarian to be recognised for their contribution to this great organisation but most of all the community we serve”.

If you are interested in joining our new and progressive club then Oswestry Cambrian Rotary is ready to welcome men and women of aged 18 and over from the local community. You don’t have to be in business or retired!

We just need people who want to help in the community and have a lot of enjoyment in working alongside like-minded people.

We meet informally at The Wynnstay Hotel, Church Street, Oswestry on Thursday evenings.
