An elderly woman has gone missing during a trip to Shropshire.

Jean Bevan, 79, was last seen at Gloucester railway station at about 10.30am on Sunday ahead of her trip to a family home in Shropshire.

It is thought Mrs Bevan, who has memory problems, was planning to catch a train to Birmingham, and then another train from Birmingham to Shrewsbury, then a third to Gobowen, near Oswestry.

She has not arrived in Shropshire or made any contact with family.

It is not known whether she caught any of those trains or is elsewhere on the rail network.

She is described as a white woman, 4ft 3ins tall, slightly built with very short brown hair, which is greying in places.

Mrs Bevan is thought to be wearing either denim or floral trousers, white trainers and either a black and white fine striped coat or a warmer, burgundy coat and carrying a black handbag and a tapestry holdall.

Police in Gloucestershire are working with the British Transport Police and other forces to try to find Mrs Bevan.

Anyone who has seen her, or has information about her whereabouts, is asked to call Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101 quoting incident 255 of 25 March.
