PREPARING for competition at the Montgomeryshire Community Drama Festival in April, Guilsfield Amateur Dramatic Society (ADS) firstly return to their local stage with a double bill of comedies next weekend.

They will present ‘The Boundary’ by Tom Stoppard and Clive Exton, and ‘Plaster’ by Richard Harris, two plays about couples who have been married for years suddenly finding themselves in unexpected situations, but with very different outcomes.

The performances at Guilsfield Community Centre will be at 7.30pm on Friday and Saturday, March 23 and 24, before going on to the Montgomeryshire Community Drama Festival in Berriew from April 4 to 7.

The Saturday performance in Guilsfield will be a first as one of the plays will be signed in BSL.

Guilsfield ADS chair Sue Jones said: “We are very excited about this new opportunity to bring in people who are not usually able to attend. If it proves popular we hope to have more signed plays, so please let us know what you think.”

'The Boundary' is directed by Peter Fantham and Sarah Saunders, with Malcolm Graham, John Kneale and Sue Jones in the cast.

'Plaster' is directed by Dai Roberts with John Parkinson, Paula Ballard and Lesley-Anne Bleasdale in the cast.

Tickets for the plays can be bought from Welshpool Jewellers, Costcutter Guilsfield and on line at www.guilsfieldads.net.

The Montgomeryshire Community Drama Festival takes place at Berriew Community Centre over four days, from Wednesday April 4 to Saturday, April 7, starting each night at 7.30pm.

It will feature six drama groups and 11 plays. The groups taking part are: Guilsfield ADS, Llanymynech Amateur Dramatic Society, Llandinam Drama Group, Montgomery Drama and Music Group and Montgomery Youth Theatre.

The winners will progress on to the Wales final at the Savoy Theatre, Tonyrefail on June 8 and 9.
