A water company has pledged to check sewer pipes in Oswestry after flash-flooding on Monday.
Heavy rain caused concerns for residents as water burst out of a manhole in the grounds of the town fire station which struggled to cope.
The torrent gushed over the retaining stone wall and onto the pavement and road below.
It continued well into the evening with some water still trickling out earlier today.
A Severn Trent spokesperson told the Advertizer: “A team of engineers went out to the flooded manhole in Oswestry yesterday afternoon and found it was surface water that was flooding out.
“The large amount of rain yesterday had caused the issue and as a precaution we’ll be returning soon to do a clean of our sewer pipes in the area to make sure they are working as they should and are free from blockages.”
