One of Oswestry's oldest pubs is searching for a new licensee.

The Bell Inn, in Church Street, has been closed since the end of January after the landlady left.

Previous owners Punch Taverns were searching for a new landlord or lady, but since the closure the pub is now owned by Star Pubs and Bars, which is owned by Heineken.

A spokesperson for Star Pubs and Bars said: “We’re actively looking to recruit a new licensee to take on the lease of the Bell Inn.

"It is a fabulous traditional and popular local in the centre of town.

"We are keen to see the pub open and trading again as soon as possible and in the meantime would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused."
