A £1,000 grant has been awarded to this year’s Oswestry Community Games.
Members of the town council’s Finance and General Purposes Committee agreed to award the full amount requested in line with the growing popularity of the annual event which takes place in Cae Glas Park each September.
Councillor Vince Hunt, the mayor, said: “It is a regular event and it is well supported by the town.”
Members also asked – in line with the motion proposed by Cllr Olly Rose on the same evening – to request that the event asks people to bring their own water bottles and recycling opportunities are offered.
Meanwhile, a request from KOSHA (Keep Our Shropshire History Alive) for a grant of the council's deciding was turned down.
But a £5,000 grant was awarded to the Lights Out Trefonen – The Wilfred Owen Festival.
