Police are appealing for information after a teenager suffered serious head injuries after an accident on the outskirts of Oswestry on Sunday.

The 19-year-old driver was taken to the trauma unit at the Royal Stoke Hospital following the crash at Tref Ar Clawdd - between Oswestry and Trefonen - just after 4am on Sunday morning.

The incident involved a black Ford Fiesta Zetec which is believed to have left the carriageway, collided with a gate and overturned.

A 20-year-old man received treat for minor injuries and was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Enquiries are currently ongoing but police would like to speak with any witnesses to the incident or people who saw the vehicle and the manner in which it was being driven prior to the collision.

"Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 111S of March 4."
