A talented youngster from Oswestry will take centre stage next week when she performs at the opening ceremony of the Shropshire School Games Has Got Talent competition.

Bethan Pitt will perform a solo hip-hop dance at the event which takes place at the Shrewsbury Sports Village on Tuesday.

It comes after the 11-year-old Trefonen Primary School pupil won the Junior Street Dancing award at last year's This Is Midlands dance competition.

She told the Advertizer: "I'm slightly nervous, but I'm ok.

"I've been practising a lot too and I'm looking forward to it."

The dance was choreographed by Bethan's dance teacher, Chloe Elizabeth, with the youngster having just a week to perfect the routine before performing at the regional contest.

She continued: "I felt really excited because I only had a week to prepare, so it felt really good to win."

But as if performing once on Tuesday wasn't enough, Bethan will be joined by some of her fellow Chloe Elizabeth Dance Company troupe when she takes to the Theatre Severn stage in Shrewsbury later on in the day prior to the National Dance Company Wales' perfomance of Terra Firma.

Bethan, who has several dance competitions ahead of her this year, added: "That's pretty cool. I like being part of a group, but being solo is great too!"
