World Book Day has come around once more, and it's time to see your efforts to celebrate our favourite book characters.

The day sees everyone from children to adults dressing up as their favourite book characters as a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly), a celebration of reading.

In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.

This is the 21st year there’s been a World Book Day and the main aim of the day in the UK and Ireland is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading.

So to celebrate, we've asked all our readers to send in pictures of your World Book Day attempts!

Our first characters have seen Bonnie Brooke, aged three from Woodside Primary School transform into Pippi Longstocking - with some great plaits, and Josh Philbin, aged five from Moreton Firsts, take on the role of Willy Wonka.
