A yellow weather warning is still in place for snow and strong winds in the area.

The warning has been updated and extended to Saturday.

The Met Office is warning there is the potential for travel delays on roads, with some stranded vehicles and passengers, as well as delays or cancellations to rail and air travel. Some rural communities could become cut off. Power cuts may also occur and other services, such as mobile phones, may be affected.

An Amber warning for snow and ice is likely to be in place between Thursday at 2pm until Friday at 8am.

The public is urged to take extra care.
