Well-known radio presenter Simon Mayo will visit Oswestry in April to talk about his new novel.
Mad Blood Stirring is his debut historical novel and gives a fictional account of an explosive - and sometimes neglected - era, the Anglo-American conflict of 1812.
It was a time when the White House was torched by British troops and many Americans were taken prisoner and shipped back to Britain, where they were incarcerated within the iconically grim granite walls of Dartmoor Prison.
Simon will speak about it in depth when he visits the town on Monday, April 23 courtesy of Booka Bookshop.
Carrie and Tim Morris, from Booka, said: "We're delighted to be hosting this lunchtime event with Simon - don't miss this chance to meet him and hear about the inspiration for his novel."
The talk takes place at 12noon and tickets £15 with a signed copy of Mad Bloody Stirring or £10 without, are available from Booka on Church Street or via www.eventbrite.co.uk
