RESIDENTS in Newtown have been given the opportunity of having their say on what they would like to see happen in the town.

Newtown and Llanllwchaiairn Town Council's Strategy Group have been busy brainstorming to come up with ideas and now need to find out what Newtonians think of their proposals to set the priorities.

The online comes to an end on Wednesday, February 14

The survey asks residents to give their views on nine broad topics for the outline plan, the include aiming to have a safe, clean and attractive vibrant, develop amenities and access to the town's green spaces, more marketing of the town to attract visitors, developing a programme of events to support culture and the arts in the town.

Cllr John Barker, Chair of the Strategy group, explained, “We started by looking at surveys of Newtown residents such as the one by the Newtown Unlimited group and also Aberystwyth University.

"From those, we drew out the main areas that Newtonians had indicated as priorities.

"Now we want to check that we are on the right lines, before we go on to the next stage of the plan.”

Cllr Sue Newham, Mayor of Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn, said, “We are asking everyone in Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn to show that they love their town by completing the on-line survey by Valentine’s Day. "

"There are paper, large print and Welsh language surveys available from the Council offices.”
