A SUMMER carnival over the weekend showed “what a community coming together can achieve”.

The sun shone on Connah’s Quay as the town staged its annual carnival with hundreds descending on Wepre Park over the weekend.

The 13th annual festival, once again featuring the opening parade through the town, was organised by Connah’s Quay Town Council.

Boasting dozens of attractions featuring a host of musical acts, stalls and games for youngsters, the carnival was a “great day” according to Cllr Pam Attridge, vice-chairman of Connah’s Quay Town Council.

She said: “It was absolutely great, it really was.

“There were quite a lot in the parade and it was a great day, I thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Among the activities on offer were football tournaments and a range of musical acts whittled down from 30 by volunteers at Radio Deeside.

Town clerk Steven Goodrum heralded the carnival as another successful event for the town council.

He said: “We had a good turnout with the weather on our side this year.

“There was a good range of stalls and activities for everyone and the music was selected by Radio Deeside who really were the lynchpin for us.

“From the feel of going round, it seems to have been one of the best ones.

“It’s something the town council is proud to do every year and it just shows what the community coming together can achieve.”
