A new lunch club for anyone over the age of 60 is being launched next month at the Red Lion Coaching Inn, Ellesmere.

People are encouraged to bring friends or are welcome to go along and make new ones. The club is planned to run every month but might meet more often if members want to do so.

The full menu is available from the Red Lion, plus a menu for smaller appetites at £5.50 for one course and £7.50 for two courses. Starters include a traditional prawn cocktail, soup of the day, and grilled black pudding; mains include chicken dishes, fish and chips, and sausage and mash; while those who opt for a pudding can indulge in hot chocolate fudge cake, spotted dick or syrup sponge.

The first meeting of the club will be held on Friday, February 16 between 12pm and 2pm at the Red Lion on Church Street.

Organiser, Anne Wignall, said: “We are very grateful to the Red Lion for agreeing to host this Lunch Club. Everyone will receive a very warm welcome and, although people may arrive as strangers, they will leave as friends.”

For further information and to reserve your place, please contact Margaret Lagoyianni at the Red Lion on 01691 622632 between 10am and 3pm, except Mondays.

Although the club is aimed at the over 60s, anyone who would like to make new friends is welcome.
