The Co-op has made amendments to a planning application.
The company submitted a planning application in late December 2016 to build up to 24 houses, together with public open space and the creation of a new access off Station Avenue in Chirk.
A decision was expected to be made in March, however, at the monthly Chirk Town Council meeting it was revealed that Co-op stores have submitted an amendment to their application.
In a letter released from Richard Lomas, planning manager at The Co-op Commercial and Investment Property, it states that the 24 dwellings would be placed across the wider part of the proposed site with the narrow end of the triangular site set aside for recreational amenity use.
A spokesperson from The Co-op said: “The details submitted were to address outstanding matters raised by the council. The application will now be subject to a further round of consultation by the council.
“We are not able to indicate a timescale for when we would expect to hear further.”
Chirk town councillors expressed their concerns over the future of this site, and said that the application should not be given permission because of the risk to the nearby conservation area, as well as the proximity to the industrial sites of Kronospan.
