A woman from Chirk has been named Miss Galaxy Wales.
Lauren Parkinson, 21, was crowned Miss Galaxy Wales at the finals held last Friday at The Park Hall Hotel in Lancashire.
Lauren, who was competing as Miss Galaxy Wrexham, was in competition with seven other girls before she was crowned the winner in the 2017 finals.
“It hasn’t sunk in yet,” said Lauren, who works at Steve McArdle Family Butchers in Chirk.
“It was a long night and very overwhelming once I’d won, I could see my family in the audience crying and I couldn’t go and see them for ages.”
She also received awards for Best in Evening Wear, Miss Charity, Best in Fashion Wear, Best in Swim Wear and Best in Interview making it a clean sweep in the awards before she was finally awarded the crown.
“I’m really keen to raise more awareness and get more Welsh girls involved in the Miss Galaxy competition. It’s such a confidence booster and it really celebrates us girls, so if we can get more girls involved it would be great.”
Lauren will now go on to compete in the international final of the Galaxy Pageants which will take place in Orlando, Florida, this summer.
