Police have recovered a body after an incident on a main road near Wrexham.
The A483 was closed in both directions at the Halton Bridge near Chirk on Tuesday morning after police had "concerns for a person's safety".
Officers investigating the incident said that a man's body was recovered from the nearby river and that his next of kin and the coroner have been informed.
Inspector Jim Lee said: “Police attended near to the Halton – Chirk roundabout on the A483 this morning following a report of concerns for a man.
"Sadly a man’s body has now been recovered from a river in the immediate area and we believe this to be the person we were looking for.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious, the family have been informed and the coroner will be informed.”
The road was closed for nearly an hour and a half while police dealt with the incident, with traffic from Oswestry and Wrexham backing up as far as Ruabon and Cefn Mawr, but was reopened shortly before midday.
