Trade at an Oswestry butcher’s shop has surged after it featured in an internet prank video, which has been viewed 10 million times online already.

Tom Brown, owner of the Meat Man business in Willow Street, says online orders and brand awareness have risen since boxes bearing the company’s name and logo featured in a video by Brad Holmes and Jenny Davies.

The engaged couple’s online antics have earned a cult following after a series of short videos showed the pair mercilessly pranking each other, with Brad often shown mocking Jenny for her apparent lack of common sense.

In their latest offering Brad, 24, is shown returning home home to find his fiancée has ordered 500kg of chicken online – rather than the intended 5kg.

A mountain of Meat Man boxes are shown piled up in the couple’s living room as Brad flies into an apparent rage about the ‘half a tonne of chicken’ costing more than £2,000 which they now have to keep.

Tom explained how the video came about: “We were approached by a third-party agency who set up these online marketing opportunities for businesses to get involved with. It is a spoof video, but it’s a really great way to grow your business online and raise the company’s profile by reaching potential new customers.

“The Meat Man has its own social media accounts and we now offer nationwide delivery on meat orders. It was a bit of fun really, but ever since the video was made and posted online, we’ve seen our online sales steadily grow.”
