The New Saints Ladies 3,
Solihull Ladies 0
The New Saints Ladies progressed into the next round of the FA Women's Premier League Cup after over coming Solihull Ladies at Park Hall Stadium.
The first appearance in the competition by any Shropshire side saw the hosts start brightly. But a crunching tackle in the eighth minute saw Katy Huntbach taken off with a knee injury, being replaced by Charlotte Canlett.
Emily Ridge went close for Saints before Solihull’s first attempt on goal rattled the crossbar.
A minute before the interval Ridge broke the deadlock, and Charlotte Budd added the second.
Maddie Jones sent a screamer from outside the box into the top corner to wrap up the win.
Manager Peter Wilson said: “It was pleasing to get the response we did out of the ladies.
“We moved the ball around well and looked very comfortable.
“We look forward to Sunday, when we travel to Loughbrough Foxes Ladies, in what we know will be a tough test for us.”
