Oswestry and District Bowling League Youth Competition

IN the competition held at the Ceiriog Valley Bowling Club, it was Ceiriog’s own Dyfan Hughes who came away with the trophy.

The competition saw 12 young bowlers from around the area split into two sections, playing short games in a round-robin competition from which the top two in each group went through to the finals.

After three hours of very good bowling in which all the competitors won at least one game, the semi-final line up was Andrew Armstrong of Royston against Matthew Stevenson of Johnstown, and Dyfan Hughes of Ceiriog Valley against Ryan Bond of Johnstown, with the older boys having the edge in both games and deservedly progressing to the final.

Andrew Armstrong had beaten Dyfan Hughes in the first match of the round-robin, but when it came to the final Dyfan used his green knowledge to the full to run away with the game and pick up the trophy for what will be his last time.
